BRAND AND WEB DESIGN

Brand packaging is a great way to customize your business, reach your key demographic, and personalize your brand. From initial discussions, I create a number of branding designs that help your ideas come to life.  My goal is to create a final product that reflects your style while providing your business with an effective marketing tool for years to come. The branding package includes:

  • Company logo in multiple colors and sizes
  • Business cards
  • Designs for social media outlets
  • Flyer or brochure
  • Website (see below)

CUSTOM WEBSITE DESIGN

I build custom WordPress, Squarespace, and Shopify sites focused on your brand and business needs. WordPress and Squarespace can host blogs, websites, and community forums. Shopify is a great way to build a website with e-commerce. I also include a tutorial session on using and managing your site content so you can truly make it yours.

Here are a few sample websites I’ve worked on:

WRITING

Writing is my passion, from an initial draft to a print-ready product. I have written rhyming storybooks, lullabies and prayers, simple board books, educational activities, science kit activities, website content, title options, back cover copy, and instructions. Visit my Amazon author’s page here: Sarah Bradshaw. I recently self-published a yoga book for children titled Animal Yoga.

I first stumbled upon writing content for children’s books when I was interning at Rainstorm Publishing, putting activities together for the education workbook line The Learnalots. I began writing short, sweet rhymes for inspirational board books and found an instant love! Since then, I’ve written for various publishers on a wide variety of projects including activity books, diaries, prayers and lullabies, back cover copy, and key selling points. The magic ingredients include age-appropriate words, concise sentences, literary whimsy, a touch of humor, and engaging storytelling.

EDITING

Editing is integral to good writing. A second (or third, or fourth) pair of eyes can help catch errors that may have gone unnoticed the first time. With a Certificate in Editing from the University of Washington, I usually edit a piece twice: once for initial draft copy and content, and again for a final review before sending to the printer or publishing online. I work with the Chicago Manual of Style; 17th edition and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary; 11th edition.

I look for clarity, consistency, typos, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, syntax, overused or incorrectly used words, headers and footers, page numbering, font consistency, and age-appropriateness. I also suggest revisions to cover structure, back cover copy, layout design, advertising call-outs, text placement and color, font choice, and graphics.

Recent editing projects include a 400-page YA novel and several chapter book series, adaptations of Sherlock Holmes stories and Jane Austen novels.

CHILDREN’S BOOKS

Bradshaw Editorial is a great resource for both initial brainstorming around your children’s book idea and carrying out a project to the end. In particular, I can help with:

  1. How to find illustrators, designers, and/or writers
  2. How to print and publish your children’s book
  3. How to market and sell your book
  4. What elements create a compelling children’s book

I am experienced with storybooks, board books, journals, activity books, educational content, puzzles, and packaging. I am passionate about all things children’s books: including the format, illustration, story ideas, and design. The creative collaboration is truly the best part of the industry for me. With years working in children’s book publishing, I have access to a team of freelance writers, designers, editors, illustrators, and literary and art agents.

Researching new formats, concepts, illustration styles, and trends occurs daily for me through various media outlets including Amazon, Instagram, blogs, new releases in major stores, and competing publishers. I am constantly on the lookout for new, distinctive illustrators, talented designers, accomplished writers, and unique book formats. I have extensive knowledge of existing children’s books—helpful when determining the validity of manuscripts and proposals. Many factors will be considered throughout the process including choosing which season to publish… along with appropriate pricing. I recently self-published a yoga book for children titled Animal Yoga.
